On a day such as this, the Saviour was born;
On a starry night, in a humble manger.
Was it a silent night, and did His star shine bright?
It was a day like any other, it was a day unlike any other.
With flesh just like mine, the Saviour was born;
In a little town, in the arms of a mother.
Did His cry break the silence of night, and show His might?
Born in a place like any other, but a place unlike any other.
On this very ground He walked, breathed this very air;
He felt hunger like I can, yet He fasted for forty days and nights;
He saw more than I see, and He still held man dear.
Was He ever flustered by all the threats, downed by sights?
He was a man like any other, but a man unlike any other.
With these very syllables, He spoke – words so full of wisdom;
He walked far and wide, revealing Heaven’s Kingdom;
He was tempted like I am, and was without blame;
To Him came the prince of this world, but could lay no claim;
Did He ever stop praying, give up interceding?
It was a time like any other, it was a time unlike any other.
He felt pain like I can, yet He took up His cross and walked;
Beaten and bruised, mocked and scorned, torn within and without;
Did He know what He had to suffer, why He had to endure?
He came and took the sins of men, and declared Truth with Grace.
Indeed, it is a day like any other, but it is a day unlike any other.
Indeed, it is a day like any other, but it is a day unlike any other.
