Increase In Knowledge; Persevere In Prayer

The Scriptures are littered with God’s promises to His people, and they are also littered with the consequences of disobedience and sin. But it would seem upon observation that the consequences of disobedience are more pronounced and are executed more speedily than the promises and blessings are manifested. That would suggest that ‘The Accuser’ and his team take their tasks more seriously than most Christians do.

It is true that God rules, He sets the rules and He reigns; but most of the time, we seem to forget that the devil is not a very obedient entity, and obviously not a ‘law-abiding citizen’; if he was, he would not have rebelled in the first place, and there wouldn’t be such disorder in creation. He may be a defeated foe, but he is not powerless, and he has not suddenly become obedient. The fact that God has said, “Touch not my anointed, and do my prophets no harm,” does not mean the devil will obediently leave you alone if you don’t know enough to stand upon that knowledge, and God knows this too; and that is why He has given us the provision of His Word, and the ability and tool of prayer, to contend against the devil and his team of experts.

We must remember that, though God is omnipotent, He has decided to do nothing on earth without partnering with a man. The Scriptures say, “…I sought for a man amongst them who would build up the wall and stand in the gap before Me for the land, that I would not destroy it…” and, “…I have set watchmen on your walls…they will never be silent day nor night. You who call on the Lord, take no rest, and give Him no rest until He establishes….” We must know the Word and we must pray. The devil is not ignorant of the Scriptures. He knows every blessing and every curse that God has pronounced, if he didn’t, he would be failing in his job as ‘The Accuser’.

If the ‘Accuser’ knows the Bible more than you do, my friend, you are in trouble. A judge may be on your side, a judge may be your father, but on the judgement seat, the judge is Judge first, and is required to rule justly in accordance with the established constitution; and must rule according to the presentations and evidence provided in the courtroom.

If you’re ignorant of the rules and provisions of the system at work, your Father may be Judge; He will save your life but you may go through the humiliation of suffering through ignorance. The Scriptures say, “…for lack of knowledge My people perish.” We have not ceased being ‘His people’, but we will be like the most miserable of orphans if we don’t cease being ignorant. The Psalmist writes, “They don’t know, neither do they understand. They walk back and forth in darkness. All the foundations of the earth are shaken. I said, “You are gods, all of you are sons of the Most High. Nevertheless you shall die like men, and fall like one of the rulers.””

If the devil knows the Bible more than you do, beloved, you’re in serious trouble. If the devil speaks accusations more than you make your presentation/defence/counter-arguments in prayer, you’re in serious trouble. The Scriptures say of him, “…the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them before God day and night…Woe to the earth…because the devil has gone down to you….” The Scriptures also say, “…pray without ceasing,” and, “…men ought always to pray, and not faint,” and, “…pray, so that you don’t enter into temptation”.

If it seems like the devil has left you alone, please, you’re in even more serious trouble…the only time a professional accuser keeps quiet is when he has lost with no hope of a comeback, or if he is busy preparing/planning a winning case/argument. But we all know the devil doesn’t lose and keep quiet, so…big trouble is headed your way; for the Scriptures say, ‘…he goes away for a season’.

I sense God saying, “My children, speak up, speak up, speak up!!!”

Shalom, and may God supply us the grace to obtain wisdom, and pray. It’s never too late to start now.

    Wow!
“A judge may be on your side, a judge may be your father, but on the judgement seat, the judge is judge first,…”
    That’s a powerful one.
    God bless you Josh🙏

  2. Especially good insight here:

“He has decided to do nothing on earth without partnering with a man.”

It has been said: God can, but without man He won’t.

A writer by the name of George Buttrick in his book ‘The Parables of Jesus’ states right with your line of thought:

“The determination of Heaven not to hear what we have not determined that Heaven shall hear.”

    And …

“The indifference of Heaven to any thing less than the best there is in man.”

Of course the word “man” signifying all of mankind.

    Enjoyed reading this Makafui!

    • Thanks David; as always. God bless you for the additional insight; It is very humbling though, that God has given man such standing. As the Psalmist said, “What is man, that thou art mindful of him…?”

It’s always great having you around. I’m glad you enjoyed it. Do stay blessed.
